Former Nba Player And Espn Analyst To Lead Team

JJ Redick to Coach the Los Angeles Lakers

Former NBA Player and ESPN Analyst to Lead Team

Los Angeles Lakers have named former NBA player and current ESPN NBA analyst JJ Redick as their new head coach, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Redick, 39, spent 15 seasons in the NBA, playing for the Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, and Dallas Mavericks. He was a three-time All-Star and led the NBA in three-point percentage in the 2019-20 season. He retired from playing in 2021 and joined ESPN as an analyst.

The Lakers fired Darvin Ham after just one season as head coach. The team finished 33-49, missing the playoffs. Redick has no prior coaching experience, but he is known for his basketball IQ and his ability to connect with players.

The Lakers are hoping that Redick can turn the team around and lead them back to the playoffs. The team has not won a championship since 2010, and they have not made it past the first round of the playoffs since 2012.

Redick's hiring is a surprise, but it is a sign that the Lakers are looking for a new direction. The team has struggled in recent years, and they are hoping that Redick can bring a winning culture to Los Angeles.
